[Note: please go here to see the Mary Grandpre video.] ArtOrg filmed Mary Grandpre during her recent class where she taught young people in Northfield the ins and outs of pastels and how to draw Harry Potter. Many thanks to Mary, but also to Gerard Lasalle of Lasalle Video Productions in Northfield for his help.
The film runs about 75 minutes and shows Mary interacting with the kids and giving pointers on how an illustrator goes about developing a character. She showed several examples from the book “Plum”, and also read a bit from books in the Harry Potter series.
The show will run on Northfield cable TV station NTV which is channel 12. The schedule is as follows:
7:00 pm Sunday, September 11
8:30 pm Thursday, September 15
7:00 pm Tuesday, September 20
7:30 pm Sunday, September 25

ArtOrg is located at 200 Division Street in downtown Northfield. Go to the back of the building next to the river. We are the first building and look for our signs. This is the same parking lot that is at the back of the Archer House Hotel.

The cooperative effort with 3 other local businesses (Contented Cow, The Art Store, and River City Books) was a huge! In the first hour, we attracted over 200 visitors to our Moving Walls Gallery and in total, the number was over 550 for the night. Thanks to everyone who made this night very special! Harry Potter Illustrator Mary Grandpre gallery show opens at 7 pm the evening of July 15. At midnight, the newest book in the Harry Potter series will be released! Look for our upcoming notice of the hours of the show. An entire evening of kids activities are planned: from Mary’s art at ArtOrg, to a Potter trivia contest at the Contented Cow, to activities at The Art Store, and finally finishing at River City Books with the actual release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!
Many of Mary’s original pastels from various children’s book will be for sale during the show.
Mary Grandpre is also teaching a pastel class for kids as a part of the ASAP kids program which atarts July 11.

Mary Grandpre Gallery Show Closes: An Artistic Spell
While known best for her Harry Potter imagery, Mary Grandpre has enjoyed a long and diverse career. ArtOrg showcased over 50 original pastels, oils and working sketches from November 12 through November 21 at our studios at 200 Division Street in Northfield , Minnesota.
