ArtOrg’s entry into this year’s 48 Hour Film Project called “MASKED DESTRUCTION” will be shown every 30 minutes starting at 7pm, and well as other films. This short 7-minute film, was created in only 48 hours by a 20-person team which included Brendon Etter, Aleshia Mueller, Greg Mattern, Alvin Ho, Chris Ash, Christie Clarke, Jeanne Hatle, Keeny Swearer, Juan Jose Palacios, Dan Freeman and others.

An additional treat will be rediscovery of 12-minute film from 1972 called “RUBICON” which was shot and edited in 16mm by local high school students. This film will be shown every hour starting at 7:40pm. The first showing will include the film’s original 1972 soundtrack, but the second two showings at 8:40 and 9:40 will feature an original soundtrack performed live by an orchestra led by Jellystone Yogi frontman Peter Diggins. Do not miss this.

ArtOrg board member Greg Mattern of the video post-production house HDMG will be showing several works. The first two works are from a frame-to-frame animation collaboration. The assignment was to create a 6 second video clip using any method. The catch? The first frame of your clip, is the last frame of someone else’s clip. These clips are then strung together to produce a seamless animation of multiple artists.

Another bit from Greg will be the photographing of small stationary figures, and set to the music of “What Keeps Mankind Alive” a piece written in 1928 by Berthold Brecht and Kurt Weil and sung by Tom Waits.

     You gentlemen who think you have a mission
To purge us of the seven deadly sins
Should first sort out the basic food position
Then start your preaching, that’s where it begins

     You lot who preach restraint and watch your waist as well
Should learn, for once, the way the world is run
However much you twist or whatever lies that you tell
Food is the first thing, morals follow on

     So first make sure that those who are now starving
Get proper helpings when we all start carving
What keeps mankind alive?

The evening will also include a rare appearance by the “largest bat in captivity” and a Hubbard squash that looks like a penguin. Popcorn will be served.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[15,16,1,8

post-373","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-events","category-film-animation","category-general","category-primary
["GET
