{"id":39,"date":"2005-09-01T16:04:15","date_gmt":"2005-09-01T22:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artorg.info\/?p=39"},"modified":"2005-09-08T19:53:01","modified_gmt":"2005-09-09T01:53:01","slug":"grant-received-for-equipment-intensive-studio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artorg.info\/?p=39","title":{"rendered":"Grant Received for Equipment-Intensive-Studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ArtOrg has been working on a <a href=\"https:\/\/artorg.info\/?p=33\">strategy <\/a>to give Northfield a special type of resource for artists: the Equipment-Intensive-Studio.  In the case of printmaking, ArtOrg had already acquired the equipment and proven that local artists could use it.  In fact, our <a href=\"https:\/\/artorg.info\/?p=24\">First Edition: a Suite of Stone Lithographs <\/a>was a good success and sixteen artists and printers were involved in its creation.  (A limited number of these wonderful handmade books of 13 original lithographs are still available currently at $400 each.  Artists include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fredericksomers.com\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Somers<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marygrandpre.com\/\">Grandpre<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rsad.edu\/majors\/il\/facultybios.php\">Casmer<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterkrauseillustration.com\/\">Krause<\/a>, Tuel, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiokari.com\">Alberg<\/a>, See, Kelly, Reid-Kelley, and others).<\/p>\n<p>We lacked, however, a dedicated space that the printmakers could call home.  The various printing presses can&#8217;t easily be moved in and <!--more-->out of our current space which also serves as a gallery, classroom, office, meeting room, and more.  Our biggest press weighs over 3000 pounds!<\/p>\n<p><img src='https:\/\/artorg.info\/wp-content\/files\/1kari.JPG' alt='Ready?' \/>   <img src='https:\/\/artorg.info\/wp-content\/files\/5inkstone.JPG' alt='Are you sure you re ready?' \/>    <img src='https:\/\/artorg.info\/wp-content\/files\/2karikpaper.JPG' alt='Set?' \/>     <img src='https:\/\/artorg.info\/wp-content\/files\/3leecranksit.JPG' alt='GO!' \/> <\/p>\n<p>The proposed arts building on the site  of the old Byzantine restaurant (and Spartz garage for you old-timers), however, is proposed to have a vibrant and rich group of Equipment-Intensive-Studios.  Can they cash-flow themselves and support their own costs, or must they be supported by donations and gifts?  It is just these <a href='http:\/\/092.me'>question<\/a>s we want to <a href='http:\/\/092.me'>answer<\/a> by creating a demonstration project for the Printmaking Equipment-Intensive-Studio.  And we are thankful to announce that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mendotahomes.com\/\">Mendota Homes<\/a>, the developer of this arts building, has given us a grant to support rent in a new and additional space for this purpose.  We praise their understanding of the needs of the arts community in Northfield!
