Please look at the other &#8220;posts&#8221; which tell about the other classes offered by ArtOrg for Adults.  Register by calling us at 645-2555, in-person by going to The Art Store at 314 Division Street in downtown Northfield, or by mailing us at the address above.  Remember, your registration is only valid if you are paid up.  Some of the printmaking and other classes have small material fees.<\/p>\n<p>Kids classes are offered each night after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for FOUR different age groups.  The instructors are \u201craring to go\u201d so make sure and sign up soon! Eight weeks from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19.<br \/>\nChildren ages 5 to 8 and their parents will create works of art based on a book theme.  Small supplies fee payable to instructor.<br \/>\nConnie Conway is the instructor of this class, aand is well-known from her many years teaching in the Northfield School District.<\/p>\n<p>507 ART OUTREACH<br \/>\n<strong>Saturdays<\/strong>, Middle ages from 8 to 12, cost: please inquire, Viking Terrace complex<br \/>\n10 am to 12 noon.  Eight weeks from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19.<br \/>\nChildren ages 8 to 12 will work on various art projects. Eight weeks from Sept. 26 to Nov. 14.<br \/>\nIn this class students will learn the basic tenants of clay through hand-build pottery.  We will explore cultures, seasons, and holidays through ceramic creations. We will learn about influential artists and make drawings in their styles using pencils, pastels, colored paper and acrylic paints.<br \/>\nInstructor is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osheim.org\/christina\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Christina Osheim<\/a>, a recent graduate of St. Olaf and an exciting ceramics artist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MIDDLE KIDS CLASSES: Grades 6 to 8.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>C1: RELIEF PRINTMAKING<br \/>\n<strong>Mondays<\/strong>, Grades 6 to 8, cost $142, ArtOrg \u201cTwo\u201d printmaking studio.<br \/>\n3:30 open, instruction from 4 to 6 pm.  Eight weeks from Sept. 26 to Nov. 14.<br \/>\nStudents will have the ability to make repeatable images through carving techniques.  Available will include linoleum, wood, and plastic.  This is one of the easiest types of printmaking to continue at home!<br \/>\nInstructor is Steven \u201cNuno\u201d Nunez, who works as an assistant in the <a href=\"http:\/\/apps.carleton.edu\/curricular\/arts\/fac_staff\/\">Carleton Art Department <\/a>and is a recent graduate in printmaking.  Nuno was the assistant in Fred Hagstroms <a href=\"http:\/\/apps.carleton.edu\/curricular\/ocs\/southpacific\/2005\/description\/\" class=\"broken_link\">recent class trip <\/a>to New Zealand and Australia.  <\/p>\n<p>C2: PHOTOGRAPHY<br \/>\n<strong>Tuesdays<\/strong>, Grades 6 to 8, cost $142, ArtOrg 200 Division Street.<br \/>\n3:30 open, instruction from 4 to 6 pm.  Eight weeks from Sept. 27 to Nov. 15.<br \/>\nPhotography will be explored through: camera basics, brief coverage of basic chemical composition and safety, B&#038;W film processing, B&#038;W printing, Basic photo composition, Lighting techniques(studio portraiture lighting styles), and if time permits Digital Images &#038; computer photo color balance\/alteration (photoshop software).<br \/>\nInstructor is Nate Thomsen who works at Northfield Photo.  <a href=\"http:\/\/archives.cnn.com\/2001\/STYLE\/arts\/01\/23\/oxborough\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Bob Anderson <\/a>who taught photography for many years in the St. Louis Park school system will act as a mentor to Nate for this class.<\/p>\n<p>C3: no class on Wednesdays for this age group.<\/p>\n<p>C4: PERFORMANCE ART AND DIGITAL VIDEO<br \/>\n<strong>Thursdays<\/strong>, Grades 6 to 8, cost $142, ArtOrg \u201cTwo\u201d printmaking studio.<br \/>\n3:30 open, instruction from 4 to 6 pm.  Eight weeks from Sept. 29 to Nov. 17.<br \/>\nIn this class, performance art will be explored in all its forms.  If time permits, performances will be taped and small video productions will result with more emphasis on the artistic performance than the video technology.<br \/>\nThe instructor is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fringefestival.org\/castdetails.cfm?showid=959\" class=\"broken_link\">Jane Greenwood<\/a>, who is an experienced performer who has worked most recently at the Minneapolis \u201cFringe Fest\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES: grades 9 to 12.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>D1: INTRODUCTION TO LETTERPRESS<br \/>\n<strong>Mondays<\/strong>, Grades 9 to 12, cost $142, ArtOrg \u201cTwo\u201d printmaking studio.<br \/>\n3:30 open, instruction from 4 to 6 pm.  Eight weeks from Sept. 26 to Nov. 14.<br \/>\nThis class will offer an introduction to letterpress printing and students will learn the basics of setting type, operating Challenge proof and pilot presses.  Basic project for the class will be to print a small edition of cards using original art or antiques \u201ccuts\u201d and 1 to 2 lines of hand-set type.  Learn one of the oldest, but still best, ways to print!<br \/>\nInstructor is Scott King, who has his own business, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reddragonflypress.org\/\">The Red Dragonfly Press<\/a>, which prints handmade, limited edition books for many famous authors.<\/p>\n<p>D2: FIGURE DRAWING<br \/>\n<strong>Tuesdays<\/strong>, Grades 9 to 12, cost $142, ArtOrg \u201cTwo\u201d printmaking studio.<br \/>\n3:30 open, instruction from 4 to 6 pm.  Eight weeks from Sept. 27 to Nov. 15.<br \/>\nIn this class we will learn about the anatomy of the figure through drawing figures from life.  This will consist of gesture drawings, contour drawings, portraiture, and posed figure drawings in pencil, charcoal, India ink, and chalk pastels.<br \/>\nInstructor is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osheim.org\/christina\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Christina Osheim<\/a>, a recent graduate of St. Olaf and an exciting ceramics artist.<\/p>\n<p>D3: STONE LITHOGRAPHY PRINTING<br \/>\n<strong>Wednesdays<\/strong>, Grades 9 to 12, cost $142, ArtOrg \u201cTwo\u201d printmaking studio.<br \/>\n3:30 open, instruction from 4 to 6 pm.  Eight weeks from Sept. 28 to Nov. 16.<br \/>\nThis class will teach the principles of printing repeated images on etched limestone using the idea that oil and water don\u2019t mix.  Lithographic images read like drawings and do have subtle qualities that are distinctive and beautiful.  This is an equipment-intensive printing process.
