2009 Dia de los Muertos – Plains Art Museum
The Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota worked with ArtOrg and Latino artists from the Grupo Soap del Corazon on a large gallery exhibit built around the traditions of the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos. The exhibit runs from October 8 to January 3, 2010. A central part of this activity is the creation and display of nine large woodblock prints made with a steamroller. Artists Maria Cristina Tavera and Xavier Tavera will create an Ofrenda for the exhibit. Kids will also get into the creative action, because ArtOrg did two small steamroller printing events at Fargo/Moorhead venues on Monday, October 5, and some of these prints will be displayed in the museum exhibit. On Friday, November 7 from noon to 3pm there will be a special celebration reception at the museum.
