2. ArtOrg donated a Governor’s Ball Litho to the Laura Baker School auction last night and it raised $2000 for the school! Only two of the eight prints remain for sale. So far, ArtOrg has donated 3 of these prints to other community organizations and raised a total of $6600 for them.

Japanese Animation Festival
3. Rana Raeuchle finished up hosting the 3rd Annual Japanese Animation Festival this past Friday. The attendance averaged about 20 to 30 people for the four screenings. Thanks Rana! Everyone is looking forward to the book that is being produced from Rana’s Comickers Unite! class.

This last weekend, ArtOrg printed about 50 large four-foot-by-eight-foot prints for the artists who are participating in the long steamroller print. Some photos of the two days of printing can be seen here. ArtOrg made a very limited number of individual paper prints of each artist’s work.

On Saturday, October 14, weather willing, we will be printing the LONG print from 11 am to 2 pm (or completion). We will have a band, led by Peter Diggens, that will be interpreting the songs of Buffalo-Springfield and others. The steamroller was in fact manufactured by the Buffalo Springfield Company, after which the band was named which included Steve Stills, Neil Young, Jim Messina and others.

We will be printing in the large parking lot of Mueller-Dahl Remodeling at 527 Professional Drive in Northfield (behind McDonalds and next to Northfield Gymnastics and across from Brick Oven Bakery). View this complete post to view a map. Continue Reading…

Glassblowing Class, Section 1, Complete

October 1, 2006 By Dave Machacek

Glass Blowing Class

ArtOrg’s first glassblowing class, held at Red Wing’s Anderson Center, was a big hit. Rick Swearer taught the class in conjunction with Gail Dahlberg who is an artist in residence and The Anderson Center, and the person who set up the studio. Seven people took the class and produced some nice work. Some of the work can be seen here. ArtOrg’s Fall 2006 class schedule continues: many classes are still open including another section of glassblowing. Take a class, and get excited!
