A Post of Loose Ends

By Dave Machacek

1. We filmed Ray Gonzalez’ poetry reading at ArtOrg last Thursday, and it will run this Sunday at 10pm on NTV local Northfield cable access channel 12. If you missed the real thing, check this out, Ray recites poetry with a Dia de los Muertos theme. Ray was quoted in a Minneapolis Star and Tribune article today about Day of the Dead.

Laura Baker Auction
2. ArtOrg donated a Governor’s Ball Litho to the Laura Baker School auction last night and it raised $2000 for the school! Only two of the eight prints remain for sale. So far, ArtOrg has donated 3 of these prints to other community organizations and raised a total of $6600 for them.

Japanese Animation Festival
3. Rana Raeuchle finished up hosting the 3rd Annual Japanese Animation Festival this past Friday. The attendance averaged about 20 to 30 people for the four screenings. Thanks Rana! Everyone is looking forward to the book that is being produced from Rana’s Comickers Unite! class.

4. A certain young man has begun frequenting our Wednesday night open drop-in drawing studio. Wow!

ArtOrg's Caller ID Machine
5. Dreamworks called the other day and asked about when the next John Berkey show was going to be held. We told them probably this winter.
