Several important details have been finalized with regards to the “Day of the Dead: Latino Artists Create Steamroller Prints” project. The main steamroller printing event is on Saturday and Sunday October 3rd and 4th at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota. The associated museum exhibit runs October 8, 2009 to January 3, 2010. There will be a community celebration on Saturday, November 7 from noon to 3pm at the museum. There are also two small steamroller printing events for kids scheduled at local Fargo/Moorhead schools, and those prints will also be part of the museum exhibit. All events around the activities at the Plains Art Museum will be added to the ArtOrg calendar, and everyone is welcomed to take part. Artists include: Alexa Horochowski, Maria Cristina Tavera, Douglas Padilla, Gustavo Lira, Luis Fitch, Xavier Tavera, and local Northfield artists Steven Nunez and Pepe Kryzda. Most of these artists are associated with the Grupo Soap del Corzon, a group that has been active in the local Minneapolis arts scene for many years. A set of each of the large steamroller prints will be considered for accession to that museum, and a very small edition size in total will be produced. We anticipate an edition size of only four prints of each artists work will be produced, so please contact us if you are interested in purchasing a print.
