ArtOrg Website Report

By Dave Machacek

ArtOrg Website

The web has been very, very good to ArtOrg. We have had our website for over three years now, and the activity on the site is significant, and the content is rich. ArtOrg loves to be a player in the Northfield “blogosphere”, and is reaping the benefits.

We have organized the site as a blog and post regularly about events and news. We are proud of nearly 100 content-rich posts. Blogs are a great way for organizations to get the information out to the public–the key is that your blog posts don’t just appear on your own site, but go forth into the ether and are aggregated by friends such as Northfield.Org.

We have over 20 videos on Google Video and have received over 10,000 people viewing our content. We chose this service to show our videos, because we were not limited in length–some of the videos are over one hour long! The highlight of videos has to be the 100-foot-long Steamroller Print, and Mary Grandpre Draws Harry Potter but when you have time, check out Juanita Garciagodoy or Ray Gonzalez talking about the Day of the Dead.

We have over 1300 photos on-line and there are categorized in 54 sets. Of course we always try to use photos to document what we have done, but also we use the photos in an active way. For example, the most interesting group of sets is perhaps the historical photos of the City of Dundas. We have put up these old photos to give artists inspiration for our “20 Views of Dundas” print project that is beginning.

We have the Moving Walls Online Gallery whose activity has increased steadily, and now gets over 1500 unique hits per month. Many visitors come to see what some call “by far the best gallery of Berkey’s paintings on the web…” About a dozen other member artists are displayed here too, as well as about 15 of our previous gallery shows.

Thanks!
