By Dave Machacek

The ArtOrg collaborative printing project named “The Twenty Views of Dundas” is making some strong progress, AND we would like to invite all artists, art patrons and just otherwise interested parties to an informal get-together and at the Archibald Inn Bed and Breakfast. The event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, January 16 and everyone is invited. A map to the Archibald Inn at 107 1st Street in Dundas is here. The project celebrates the Sesquicentennial of Dundas with 20 different views of the city, its people, and its history done by 20 different local and regional artists. There will be a sneak peak of several of the prints from the edition!

A limited edition of 25 print sets will be made and each offered as a set in an archival box. Each print will be made by hand in one of several traditional art printing methods. This will be a very distinctive set, not only because of the wonderful artists and wonderful Dundas history, but because the attention to traditional hand-printing methods. No mechanical ink-jet or copier reproductions here!

The main page of information on the project is located here, and we encourage a read of that information. For example, we have scanned over 150 historical Dundas photos, and they are accessible from that page. It is particularly fun to hold this informal meet and greet at the Archibald Inn, for it is named after the family who pioneered flour milling in the Cannon River valley. The Inn is an 1869 Italianate Victorian on National Historic Registry and is situated on one acre within the city of Dundas.

Come and greet fellow artists, historians and Dundonians and get a sneak peek of “The 20 Views of Dundas”! There will be a special pricing offer on the complete set given on this night. Artists in the set include: Carolyn Swiszcz, Diane Schrader, Fred Hagstrom, Alexander Hage, Fred Somers, Gaylord Schanilec, Hope Cook, James Boyd Brent, John Sauer, Kari Alberg, Lilla Johnson, Mac Gimse, Marty Harris, Meg Ojala, Nick Wroblewski, Ray Jacobson, Scott King, Scott West, Sharol Nau and Pat Lampe, Nuno Nunez, and Xavier Tavera.
