The City of Cannon Falls is very active several and big developments are underway. The Mayo Clinic is opening a new 80,000-square-foot facility in the fall of 2014, the Cannon River Winery is establishing a 7,000-square-foot banquet center on the second floor above their current facilities, and a bike trail extension west to the Lake Byllesby Regional Park is under construction. Major road construction, also to be completed this year, is changing several Cannon Falls crossings of the spacious US Highway 52 to an access-controlled freeway layout.
