ArtOrg and the Grupo Soap del Corazón have been chosen by the Minneapolis Monarch Festival to perform the event called the “Thousand Print Summer” on 9/18/2010. Several artists will be there working right next to the kids and adults to make prints with the general theme of the Monarch Butterfly. An interesting aspect of the project will be the established artists (Savita Bettaglio, Peter Morales, Luis Ornelas, and Douglas Padilla) from the community that will create works alongside of the other kid/adult artist participants. The printing blocks will be printed at the festival with a small steamroller, and everyone will leave with a wonderful paper print. ArtOrg will retain the printing blocks however, and perhaps reuse them and integrate them into a larger collaborative piece sometime in the future. Come do a neat butterfly print, and check back here for photos!
