Records Fall at Monarch Festival

By Dave Machacek

Two major records for ArtOrg’s “Thousand Print Summer” small steamroller printing event fell at the 2010 Minneapolis Monarch Festival. Nearly three-hundred prints were completed by kids and adults, and the total number of prints for this years activity surpassed two-thousand prints. The numbers are interesting facts, however, but the real magic of the event is seen in each individual work, and the special satisfaction that can be seen on everyone’s face as they proudly display their print. We have photographed many of the artists and their prints, and that can be seen at this page on the ArtOrg website. The Monarch butterfly was the theme of the day, and many wonderful butterfly scenes were created. The Grupo Soap del Corazon was there with artists Savita Bettaglio, Luis Ornelas, Peter Martin Morales, and Douglas Padilla who made prints right alongside the kids and provided inspiration. Thanks to everyone at the Minneapolis Monarch Festival! [For a story at Twin Cities Daily Planet go here…, or here for a story from a local blogger]
