Five Sculpture Project Progress
ArtOrg has been working on the Five Sculpture Project, and the artists have made considerable progress of late. We are excited to push the project down the home stretch to completion and public exhibition. The artist Sharol Nau was the first to finish carving her 3 x 4 x 8 foot block, and then next came Ray Jacobson and Mac Gimse. Juan Jose Palacios is also almost finished. The artist and ex-Minnesotan Ed White was here last weekend and made considerable progress as well. Photos of the ongoing artist work are located on the page that ArtOrg has devoted to the project. On the right side of the page, one can link to that photo documentation as it happens.
Ed White was the last artist to start carving on his block, and we enjoyed having Ed here from California last weekend. In the town of Julian, near San Diego, he runs an arts group called the Oak Lake Art Center. We also had a chance to recreate a certain arm-wrestling match that was depicted in the ArtOrg project called the Twenty Views of Dundas and here is Alex Hage’s rendering of that special Dundas legend. We also welcomed Ed’s good friend Ron Jerich to the studio on Sunday.
“This activity is funded by the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council through the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.” Thanks, Minnesota!
