ArtOrg, together with Carleton’s Cinema and Media Studies, will screen James Vculek’s new film “The Quietest Sound” early this fall. Carleton alum Catherine E. Johnson plays the lead role of Elizabeth whose child has been missing for over a week. The camera rolls for 75 minutes straight, drawing comparisons to Hitchcock’s “Rope”. About one year ago we also screened Vculek’s “Two Harbors” which at the time of this writing has won six festival awards around the country.

Several Northfielders were spotted over at the Anderson Center in Red Wing this weekend for their large annual arts celebration.
ArtOrg board member Scott King is a resident artist of the Anderson Center and was seen printing in the home of his Red Dragonfly Press. Kari Alberg and Rick Swearer were seen with Anderson Center Robert Hedin in from of the big Northfield Governors Ball Print. Rick even picked up some hot glass! We hope to work with the Anderson Center to offer some glass blowing classes to Northfield artists in their shop.
Thanks to Carlson Capital Management for allowing us to display their Governors Ball print at the Anderson Center!

Video Installation at ArtOrg’s Moving Walls Gallery: “A Moderate Immigration Story”
Between the sensational accounts of sneaking groups of “illegal immigrants” across the border and the relative ease with which people of wealth can enter the U.S. lies another story – the “moderate” immigration story. This more temperate immigration account is told by video installation artist Mel Racho in “Why are you here? (And where is your accent?),” opening at ArtOrg’s Moving Walls Gallery (200 Division St. South, #140 Northfield) on Friday, July 14.
At the center of Racho’s piece is her family; middle-class people in the process of a first-generation immigration to the U.S. from Jakarta, Indonesia. Part Brady Continue Reading…

OPEN DRAWING STUDIO
WEDNESDAYS FROM 7 TO 9 PM AT ARTORG MAIN GALLERY, 200 DIVISION STREET (RIVERSIDE ENTRANCE).
OPEN PRINTMAKING STUDIO
SATURDAYS FROM 1 TO 3 PM AT ARTORG PRINTMAKING STUDIO, 314 DIVISION STREET (UNDERNEATH THE ART STORE).
Since the inception of the ArtOrg live model open drawing studio over 1 1/2 years ago, it has been a time for many to improve their drawing skills and enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow artists. For the most part, the evening has been of quiet concentration and drawing industry, but afterwards the group sometimes toasts to wonderful charcoal sketches in hearty cheer at one of the local potationary establishments.
Added to the program only recently is the open printmaking studio. Whether expert or beginner, this wonderful afternoon will give everyone the chance to learn about and exercise their printmaking skills. It is FUN, so please join us.
